Mid is a balanced role where no single stat dominates: Laning (27%), Mechanics (20%) and Teamfights (18%) all count evenly. It’s also the easiest role to recommend to first-time players. Put the other way, raising only one stat won’t lift OVR quickly, so you need to grow several stats together with a plan.
The Stat Ratios That Make Up OVR
| Stat | Ratio | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Laning | 27% | The most important. Second highest after Top. |
| Mechanics | 20% | Much higher than for Top, Jungle and Support. |
| Teamfights | 18% | The third key stat. |
| Mental | 13% | A moderate weight. |
| Champion Pool | 12% | A moderate weight. |
| Vision & Macro | 10% | On the low side. |
Laning, Mechanics and Teamfights make up 65% of OVR. The other three stats are similar at around 10% each, so you don’t need to worry much about their order.
Training Priorities
- Raise Laning and Mechanics first. Together they make 47%.
- Teamfights third. Alternating the three also spreads out the condition load.
- Mental, Champion Pool and Vision & Macro once each, late in the season or when your condition is good.
Mid is a role where weaknesses aren’t obvious, so the gap between stats easily widens. If the gap between your lowest and highest stat reaches 25 or more, raising the low stat is more efficient for OVR, because the high stat is near its limit and rises poorly. Train your lowest stat once a season.
Gear and Seasonal Items
- Upgrade the keyboard (Laning and Teamfight efficiency) and the mouse (Mechanics efficiency) together. These two pieces of gear help the three stats that account for 65% of OVR.
- The mouse is the gear with the largest bonus (tier 3 +16%). With Mechanics at 20%, it’s a worthwhile investment for Mid.
- 1:1 Personal Coach: all training +20% works well for a Mid, whose training is spread across several stats.
- PC: it applies to all training, so it’s worth more to a Mid, whose stats are spread out, than to other roles.
Perk Recommendations
Because you alternate three stats, the 24-session condition builds up slowly. The easiest perk to get first is Laning Master (Laning +12%, team strength +0.3). Next, aim for Machine Hands (Mechanics ×24, +12%) and Fight Architect (Teamfights ×24, +12%, team strength +0.3). Ranked Addict, earned by grinding solo queue 30 times, raises your stat gain in solo queue by +1. It’s handy for a Mid who often uses solo queue, which costs little condition.
Example Season Routine (ages 14–17)
- Weeks 1–3: Laning, Mechanics, Rest
- Weeks 4–6: Teamfights, Laning, Rest
- Weeks 7–9: Mechanics, Mental, Rest
- Week 10: Laning
That fits in 3 Laning, 2 Mechanics, 1 Teamfight and 1 Mental session. In the last week of each season, pick your lowest stat to make up for it.
Late Career and Aging
Mechanics slowly declines from 26 and falls in earnest from 27. Mid’s Mechanics weight is 20%, so the effect is smaller than for ADC (30%) but still there. Vision & Macro and Mental decline less, so in your 30s it’s best to protect OVR with those two stats and Teamfights. Choosing “Switch to a Macro Style” (Mechanics -1, Vision & Macro +2, Champion Pool +1) in the Aging Curve event suits a Mid well.
