Once you’re a pro, you see the contract screen at the end of every season. Your choice there changes your salary, your stage and your title chances. This article covers the types of offers, the salary structure, and the hidden variable of team trust.
Types of Offers
| Offer | When it arrives |
|---|---|
| Signing Offer | Comes from new teams when you have no contract or it has expired. Teams from higher leagues may be among them. |
| Contract Renewal | Offered by your current team in the season your contract ends. It won’t come if team trust is below 25. |
| Transfer Offer | Comes when another team wants to pay a transfer fee and sign you even though you still have a contract. |
| Trade | Comes when you request a trade yourself and the club agrees to negotiate. |
| Reserve Promotion | Comes when your OVR clears the requirement during academy training. |
How Salary Is Determined
Salary is determined by multiplying league level, your OVR, team strength and the regional multiplier. The base salary grows the further you clear the entry requirement.
- Challengers League: ₩6M + OVR above the requirement (74) × ₩400k
- Reserve: ₩24M + OVR above the requirement (80) × ₩1.5M
- Top division: ₩60M + OVR above the requirement (84) × ₩15M
In the top division, every point of OVR adds ₩15M to your salary, so a high-OVR player earns far more even in the same league. Salary also rises with team strength, and the multiplier differs by region.
| Region | Salary multiplier |
|---|---|
| LPL (China) | 1.8× |
| LCS (North America) | 1.6× |
| LEC (Europe) | 1.25× |
| LCK (Korea) | 1.0× |
| LCP (Asia-Pacific) | 0.75× |
| CBLOL (Brazil) | 0.6× |
| LLA (Latin America) | 0.5× |
Longer Contracts Are Safer, Shorter Ones Pay Better
The Challengers League allows contracts of up to 2 years, and higher leagues up to 3 years. Longer contracts cut your salary a bit (94% for 2 years, 88% for 3). In return, during a contract you receive no renewal negotiations, only transfer offers from other teams. However, if your results are too poor you can be released even with a contract remaining. A growing player benefits from short contracts and renegotiating their value every year, while a player entering decline does better with a long contract to stay stable.
Team Trust: The Invisible Score
Team trust moves up and down with your season results. It rises when your rating is above 6, gets a bonus for making the playoffs, and rises a lot for Season MVP and reaching a final. Conversely, it falls with a low rating or missing the playoffs. Trust affects three things.
- Renewal salary: your renewal salary varies at 80% with trust 0, 100% with trust 50 and 120% with trust 100.
- Renewal eligibility: below 25, the club won’t offer a renewal.
- Release: at 0 you’re released even with a contract. You’re also notified of release when your rating is below 4.5 and your OVR is 3 or more below the league requirement.
Trade Requests and Overseas Transfers
If you don’t like your team, you can request a trade once per season. The club accepts with a 65% chance; if it does, offers arrive from 2 teams in the same league, and if conditions are met, from higher-league and overseas teams too. If you’re refused, you can’t ask again in the same season.
Overseas league transfer offers only come to players in the top division with an OVR of 74 or higher. Moving to the high-salary LPL or LCS raises your income a lot, but those regions’ teams are strong, so if your OVR falls well short of the team’s strength, no offer will come at all. If your goal is an international title, remember that Korean and Chinese teams are the strongest.
Summary
- During your growth years, use short contracts and reset your value often.
- Look after your results and ratings before team trust falls below 25.
- If money is the goal, consider the LPL or LCS; if titles are the goal, consider strong teams in the LCK or LPL.
- In decline, finish stably with a 3-year contract.
